First Podium of the Season at Assen

Crossing the line to claim a P3 finish in the Round 4 endurance race of the BMW Racing Cup.

The final race weekend before the summer break of the BMW Racing Cup saw Miles Wragg return to the iconic TT Circuit Assen for Round 4 of the BMW Racing Cup, looking to convert strong pace into the results that had eluded him throughout the opening rounds of the season.

Qualifying proved frustrating, with tyre temperatures never quite reaching the ideal operating window. As a result, Miles secured fourth in class on the grid despite showing encouraging pace throughout the session.

The sprint race began with the opportunity to challenge for a podium finish. Running fourth in class and applying pressure to the car ahead, his progress was interrupted when an incident on lap two brought out the red flag. A lengthy clean-up operation followed, reducing the 25-minute race to just five racing laps after the restart. With little time remaining to make up positions, Miles crossed the line fourth in class.

The endurance race provided the breakthrough the team had been searching for. Taking over the car in second place after the pit stop, Miles immediately found himself in an exciting battle with Rick van Zijverden. The pair were the fastest cars on track, consistently closing the gap to the race leader by around 1.5 seconds per lap.

Despite the impressive pace, the race ended a few laps too soon to launch a challenge for victory. Nevertheless, Miles secured third place and his first podium finish of the 2026 BMW Racing Cup season. A deserved result after a run of technical issues and bad luck in the opening rounds.

The podium provides a welcome confidence boost heading into the summer break, with the team now looking to carry this momentum into Zolder when the championship resumes in September.
