Double Podium and Race 2 Pole at Jack’s Racing Day

After a few weeks away from the wheel, I was back in action for the biggest event on the calendar, Jack’s Racing Day at TT Circuit Assen, making my GT4 debut behind the wheel of the Koopman Racing BMW M4 GT4. A huge thank you to Pearl Performance for getting me physically and mentally dialed in and fully prepared for the weekend.

The action got off to a flying start in practice. The track was incredibly wet, but I felt right at home in the treacherous conditions and managed to set the fastest time overall to finish P1.

Confidence was high heading into qualifying, but I didn't quite optimize the tyre warm-up procedure. That cost me a bit of lap time for the first stint, landing me P2 on the grid for Race 1. However, I managed to pull it together when it mattered and bagged a fantastic Pole Position for Race 2!

Race 1 was relatively uneventful behind the wheel, but luck wasn't entirely on our side. I lost out massively due to a Full Course Yellow right after my pit stop. Despite the setback, I extracted everything I could from the car and brought it home P2 to secure a podium on my GT4 debut.

Starting from P1 in Race 2, I showed dominant pace right from the green flag and built a comfortable gap at the front. However, due to the success penalty regulations from my P2 finish the day before, I had to serve an extra 35 seconds stationary during the mandatory pit stop. That dropped me right back into the thick of the fight for the lead. I pushed hard through heavy traffic, but final lap yellow flags ruined any last-ditch attempt at a move, leaving me with another P2 finish.

It definitely hurt to miss out on the win after having the pace to take it, but that’s racing. A double podium and a debut pole position in the M4 GT4 is a result we can be proud of. A massive thank you to Koopman Racing, Pearl Performance, my sponsors, and everyone who made this weekend possible.

Next up, it’s time to shift focus back to the BMW Racing Cup as we head to Circuit Zolder in September!
